Nutfield Technology's QuantumScan-7 (QS-7) galvanometer scanners are used to position laser beams fast and accurately over millions of cycles. The limited rotation moving magnet motor is coupled to a highly sensitive position detector. The device is controlled through a PID based servo driver to provide amazingly fast and accurate closed loop control.
NTI's QS-7 galvanometer offers the designer the smallest, fastest galvanometer available on the market for 7 and 10mm aperture beams. Designed for applications where speed and size are important, the QS-7's high torque and compact size allows it to be used in system designs where space consideration is important. The QS-7 can be configured and optimized for speed and accuracy with typical beam diameters of 10mm or less.
NTI's engineers are veterans of the scanning industry and have been designing galvos for two decades. They have been continuously researching ways to improve scanner performance, which has lead to several patents and patent pending designs including our exclusive ceramic rotor designs. This first of a kind rotor has exceptionally low inertia and high stiffness, which results in higher bandwidth performance. The QS-7 uses hybrid ceramic bearings with tested and patent pending bearing preload designs to ensure a long lifetime of operation.
The QS-7 Position Detector was designed with a high-output feedback signal for the best possible accuracy. NTI galvanometers have four times greater signal-to-noise; the highest in the industry. This means greater pointing accuracy, resolution and repeatability in your application.
Another breakthrough is our stator design, which is the first to incorporate Patented Side Load Reduction (SLR) technology to reduce off axis magnetic forces on the rotor. The benefit is higher bandwidth and faster step response resulting from less stator induced side forces.
During each assembly step, every galvo is rigorously tested and then burned in to ensure the highest quality. A device history record follows every galvo assembly recording important operational parameters along the way. Data is stored on a hard copy form and in a computerized data base. Data on each galvo is then compared against acceptable limits of operation.
Each NTI galvanometer is configurable with a variety of control electronics and mirrors of many sizes and wavelengths. QS-7 galvanometers can also be configured in an X/Y Open Frame Head. These "drop in" OEM heads arrive with match tuned servo drives, mounted mirrors, optically aligned and ready for easy integration into your laser system.
